APLICACIÓN DE INTELIGENCIA ARTIFICIAL EN EL DIAGNÓSTICO TEMPRANO MEDIANTE IMÁGENES MÉDICAS: AVANCES Y DESAFÍOS CLÍNICOS

La inteligencia artificial (IA) se ha consolidado como una de las tecnologías más prometedoras para el diagnóstico temprano mediante imágenes médicas, debido a su capacidad para mejorar la precisión diagnóstica, agilizar la interpretación de estudios y apoyar la toma de decisiones clínicas. El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar los avances recientes en la aplicación de la IA en el diagnóstico temprano por imágenes médicas y describir los principales desafíos clínicos, tecnológicos y éticos asociados a su implementación. Para ello, se realizó una revisión narrativa de la literatura científica publicada entre 2016 y 2025, utilizando las bases de datos PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science y ScienceDirect. Se incluyeron estudios originales, revisiones sistemáticas, metaanálisis y otros documentos científicos relacionados con el uso de inteligencia artificial en imágenes médicas. La información recopilada fue organizada y analizada mediante un enfoque temático, considerando las áreas clínicas de aplicación, las tecnologías empleadas, los resultados diagnósticos obtenidos y las limitaciones identificadas. Los hallazgos evidenciaron que los algoritmos de aprendizaje profundo han alcanzado niveles de precisión comparables a los de especialistas en oncología, neurología, enfermedades respiratorias y cardiología. Asimismo, se identificaron beneficios significativos asociados con la detección temprana de enfermedades, la reducción de la variabilidad diagnóstica y la optimización de los flujos de trabajo clínicos. Sin embargo, persisten limitaciones relevantes, entre ellas la escasa capacidad de generalización de algunos modelos, la presencia de sesgos en los datos de entrenamiento, la limitada interpretabilidad de ciertos algoritmos y la necesidad de fortalecer los marcos regulatorios y éticos. Se concluye que la inteligencia artificial constituye una herramienta complementaria con gran potencial para el diagnóstico temprano mediante imágenes médicas; no obstante, su implementación debe sustentarse en modelos transparentes, validados en diversos contextos clínicos y respaldados por estrategias que garanticen la seguridad, la equidad y la confiabilidad de su resultado.
